Inspire Moment #117: Cup of Joy

Rather than your usual morning Cup of Joe this week, I want to encourage you to indulge in a Cup of Joy instead.  It has zero calories, comes in tons of flavors from a Hi-Five to a Smile/Hello to a stranger, it has no sugar but is very sweet, and it will fill you up all day long!  Free refills, and if you want to carry your Cup of Joy with you throughout the day, their is a cup holder along your journey.

How to start?  Like Coach Angie always suggests, “Flip the Switch” in your mindset now to dwell on what is true, what is positive, and what is praiseworthy in your life to fill Your Cup of Joy today.  Look for ways to fill the Cup of Others along the way!

Inspire Moment #107: The Onion

Life is like an Onion…

Like the layers of an Onion, in Life you never know what chapters or layers might cause you to cry and tear up.  Some layers are thin while others are really thick.  Heck, that’s what happens when you peel an Onion, you cry!

So let me ask you this, if it’s OK to cry through the different layers of an Onion, how can you allow yourself to cry through different chapters in your Life?  Some chapters are much easier than others, while some seem like they take forever and get much harder as the days go by.  Other layers of life are a breeze, almost like the first layer you peel back of the Onion.  No sweat, that was easy!

Inspire Moment #107 is to help you give yourself a break and cry if you have to!  No matter how many layers you have to peel or tears you cry, I promise it’s all worth it.  Because when it’s all said and done, the more layers you experience the more flavorful your life will be!

Inspire Moment #102: Take Out the Garbage

It can overflow, become heavy, and it can even get a little smelly.  I’m talking about garbage, but specifically to the kind that can build up in your MIND.  Welcome to Inspire Moment #102 “Take Out the Garbage.”

Schedule some time ASAP to throw out, release, and burn that negative self- talk, those garbage thoughts that creep up and get old and smelly in your head.   You know the ones I’m talking about, the ones that nag you and keep you from getting to where you want to go.  Often times we don’t even realize that it’s garbage, because it becomes our routine thought pattern.  Coach Angie is here to inspire you to take it out TODAY!  If it’s keeping you from moving forward and evolving in any way, if the thoughts are not positive in any way, if you are feeling held back in any way, have you feeling stuck in the same routine in any way, or sinking in quicksand in any way, IT IS GARBAGE and it’s time to take it out.

I have several coaching strategies on how to, but the key step for me to share and encourage you with is to set a deadline as to WHEN you will take care of your trash.  Set a deadline.  Sure, you can keep it there for another couple weeks but it’s only going to get worse.  I will type it again…set a deadline to release, throw out, and get rid of the trash.  The first step might be the hardest, but the second step will be less smelly.  It’s time to take the trash out!

Inspire Moment #101: Bird’s Eye View

Google Maps gives us a Bird’s Eye View of the location we type in on the website.  From the initial Google Map perspective we are given a zoomed out view of our location and are able to see so much more of the area.  We notice on the map major streets, local convenience stores or malls nearby, how close we are to highways, parks, water, etc.  It’s helpful to gain this perspective, because it provides a sense of direction on where you are traveling and where things are located when you journey there.

Welcome to Inspire Moment #101: Bird’s Eye View.  This woke me up at 6am and I figured it was worth sharing.  Now, what if you took some time this week and took a Bird’s Eye View of your life?  You can’t simply visit a website and put in your goal or destination, and tell it where to take you.  I’m sure you wish is was that easy!  However, you can take time to locate where you are in your life and zoom out to see a different perspective and learn any potential detours you need to take.

As the “Activator” I always say, action beats intention.  The first action step is to ask these questions this week.  Give yourself a deadline to write them down and answer them or at least to brainstorm for five minutes.  Are their local compassionate people nearby in your life?  Locate them.  Do you notice major intersections in your life right now and need help determining what turn you should make?  Need to seek counsel?  I know a good coach. 😉  Could taking the Bird’s Eye View help you to determine your next step?  How close are you to pursuing the things that really drive you in life?  Like a merging onto a major highway, is that next move a bit scary to some of you?  Are your goals even on the map anymore?  It may seem like a lot to think about, but it’s worth it.

Remember, not to get stuck on cruise control and miss the exit for the life you could be living.  Taking the Bird’s Eye View could be exactly what you need to do this week.  Give it a shot!

Inspire Moment #99: Sunny-Side Up

How do you want your eggs?  I’m sure we have all been asked that question before at breakfast.  Maybe you like them scrambled, over-hard, sunny-side up, or over-easy.

Now ask yourself that same question but replace the word eggs, with life.  How you do want your life?  Scrambled, over-hard, over-easy, or sunny-side up?

Inspire Moment #99 is to help bring happiness to you today and suggest the Sunny-Side Up way for life.  If life is over-hard or scrambled for you right now, Sunny-Side Up could just be the approach to take.  If life seems way over-easy and you need more motivation or balance in your life, Sunny-Side Up could be just the answer for you.

Here a few suggestions on how to begin living Sunny-Side Up…

Try different things in life.  Example- Maybe the scrambled eggs you got at that diner weren’t that good, so instead of ordering the same dish the next time you go do something different and order Sunny-Side Up.  Try something different in your life today.  It could be very simple.

Be open to life and don’t be afraid to ask. Example-Maybe you already like Sunny-Side Up eggs but you don’t feel full when you are done and it doesn’t taste as flavorful of a dish anymore.  Usually there are some potatoes or bread on your dish to dip into the yolk, but lately it’s just been the eggs at the diner.  Next time you’re there be open to ask for a side of bread or more potatoes.  Don’t be afraid to ask!  You never know unless you ask.  You could even be open to spicing it up by putting some hot sauce on those eggs.  Test out something new and see how it sits with you.  Try to be open to life and all the different results you will feel when you try new ways.  Remember, you can’t experience what you don’t know.

Just like you have a choice on how you want your eggs cooked, you also can make a choice on how you want to live your life.  Ready.  Set.  Go…for Sunny-Side-Up!

Inspire Moment #98: Permission Slip

Remember when you were a kid you had to get a permission slip to go on a school field trip?  Maybe sometimes you would get one from your mom or dad to take a different bus home with a friend or to have another friend’s parent pick you up after school?  Remember those days…when you got the approval to take some time and do something fun, something different, something you needed to do?

Inspire Moment #98 is about your Permission Slip in life now.  It’s often hard to give ourselves the permission to take a break from the busy life most of us lead.  The approval to know that it’s ok to go out and have some fun during the week or to stay in and rest, to take time off from work for a vacation, or go out to lunch instead of staying in having a working lunch in the office or simply  just taking time to eat lunch!  Why are we so hard on ourselves?

We had to get a Permission Slip when we were younger and so it gets your Coach thinking that maybe some of us still need a Permission Slip to do things in our life today.  If you struggle with that then it’s time to “Flip the Switch™” in your mind and create your Permission Slip.  Please keep reading for a suggested action step on where you can start.

Could your Permission Slip be a reminder on your phone?  If so, what does it say?  How often do you see it?  Could is be something you write out on an index card that says “Permission Slip?”  Is it a check mark you put in your calendar that allows you permission twice a week to do “those things” to bring you back in balance?  If so, how do you remember to check it off?  Take an Inspire Moment now to think about what action step you will take today or next week to remember to give yourself a Permission Slip

Because allowing yourself to do what you need to do in order to feel truly in balance with who you are on the inside is the most important authorization you can give yourself in life.
